The Virtual Job Connection Center (VJCC) has had their hands full the last two months as our first line of communication with all employees following hurricanes Ian and Nicole. In total, 44 Goodwill employees identified needing assistance following hurricane Ian (2.8% of total employee count). The two main services provided were replacing clothing lost due to flooding and emergency food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Additional assistance was provided for emergency shelter (hotel stays), FEMA application referral and assistance, and referrals for legal assistance due to conflict with insurance companies.
